My name is Melissa Saltness. I am a licensed psychotherapist with a private practice in Denver, Colorado since 2001. My office is conveniently located to serve Denver and surrounding metropolitan cities.

If you are having problems with stress or anxiety, depression, grief/loss, bipolar disorder and/or mood swings, addiction, an eating disorder, obsessions/compulsions, a spiritual or existential crises, or if you have a minor problem with your job or a relationship, counseling can be very helpful. I can help you gain awareness and insight into whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. I can also educate you and give you tools for transforming or eliminating the problem.

If you feel you need relationship counseling or marriage counseling, don't wait until it's too late.

It takes more energy to stay in an unhealthy place than it does to be mentally and psychologically healthy. A healthy mind is also conducive to a healthy body and a strong spirit.

I promote understanding and self-awareness and I can help you change self-sabotaging behavior, irrational beliefs and destructive thoughts; improve your relationships; and help you create a more positive environment for yourself.

Sometimes, a stressful life event or a series of minor events can trigger depression, but depression can also occur spontaneously, with no identifiable specific cause. Whatever the cause, depression can be managed by changing your thought processes, through lifestyle changes, and/or with medication.

Recurrent mood disorders are equally common among men and women. Some people have mood alterations between depression and mania or irritability, or a mix of both. During manic episodes patients may have elevated mood, decreased need for sleep, rapid speech, extreme involvement in pleasurable activities, and may be easily distracted. Some people experience dysphoric episodes instead of euphoric episodes.
